Lately I've been getting more and more into sewing. I've sewed for years but it always consisted of fairly simple items like pillows and curtains. Once I had children I became more interested in sewing garments for them. I stumbled upon the Oliver and S pattern company and my love of sewing took off. I am by no means an expert sewer but almost everything I have made using their patterns has come out looking fairly professional and well made. This excites me to no end! I'm currently participating in the Ice Cream Social and excited to make another dress for the little one. I'm trying to decide between two different solids to go with my Heather Ross unicorn fabric. The first is a bright pink medium weight linen and the second is a purply/raspberry cotton. Well at the least the lady at the fabric store told me it was 100% cotton but I'm beginning to doubt that. The feel of the fabric is slightly off to me and I thought I could get over it but then I started to doubt the color as well. So yesterday after putting the kiddos down for bed I trucked on over to another fabric store and found the bright pink linen. I thought it looked great but then my husband's first reaction was that the two fabrics clash. I was feeling inspired by a dress from Liesl on the Oliver and S flickr group so maybe that's why I went so bright. But I do think that the colors go fairly well together. Any thoughts??? My other concern with the bright pink fabric is mixing a linen and a double gauze together. Is that a no-no? I've already cut out the pattern from the cotton but just keep seconding guessing the feel and color of the fabric. Hmm.... any advice would be greatly appreciated:)
